Mission and Passions
The Bridge Community exists to exalt and glorify Jesus by applying the gospel to every area of our lives, and leading others toward becoming fully delighted followers of Jesus Christ.
In short, we are here to help people find Jesus, and follow Him fully.
As a church family, we are driven by a deep passion for the worship, Word, and work of God. Everything we do as a church will demonstrate these passions:
1. Passion for God: we demonstrate passion for God through…
- Worship: worship is the outpouring of a heart that has been captivated by the gospel of grace, and we worship God most genuinely when our lives match the songs of our heart. When we worship the living God, we both proclaim God’s great worth, and respond to him by offering our lives. As we worship, we allow Him to change our hearts to live in line with the truth of the gospel. (John 4:23)
- Dependence on Prayer: Just as the Bible offers us spiritual food, prayer is like spiritual breathing. Whether we realize it or not, we are 100% dependent on God for every second of life. Talking to God is a vital aspect of walking with Him through life. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
2. Passion for His Word: we demonstrate passion for God’s Word by…
- Teaching from God’s word: The TBC church family has an unflinching commitment to the Bible as God’s revealed truth. The Word of God shows us God’s way of salvation, and offers us all the direction we need to live a joyful life that is pleasing to our maker. Ultimately, the word of God reveals God’s heart for us. The Bible points us to Jesus, and the good news (gospel) is that God has invited us to know Him, and enjoy Him forever. (2 Timothy 3:16)
- Applying God’s word: The gospel is not only the way we enter into a relationship with God, but also the way we are shaped into the kind of people God wants us to be. It is only when we have fully believed and delighted in the truth that we are saved by grace that we will be fully developed (sanctified) followers of Jesus. We understand knowing, believing, and living out the gospel is a life-long journey. We will strive to delight in the glory of God in the teaching and preaching ministries of this church, making known the riches of His revelation to us. (Titus 2:11-12)
3. Passion for His work: we demonstrate a passion for God’s work by…
- Focusing Locally: the gospel makes us a community that exists for others. We will invest in redemptive relationships and sacrifice for our community, expressing the gospel in love and with wisdom. TBC members are the effectual bridges that connect the hope of the gospel to the community. (Philippians 2:3-4)
- Thinking Globally: we will remember that we are part of a church family that is truly global. We will keep God’s kingdom ever before us by praying for, serving, and supporting global missions. (Matthew 28:19-20)
