Merry Christmas,

I have three prayer requests I’d like to share with our TBC prayer warriors. First, a praise; Marshall Pulliam moved here and his job transfer fell threw immediatly and he had no job. We asked people to pray for him in our newsletter, and within a few days, God provided a full time job with benefits. Praise God.

Secondly, I am flying to Southern California tomorrow and I will defend my thesis before a board. If I pass, My Doctoral work will be basically complete and I’ll walk in May with my Doctorate. It would be so nice to be done with the work involved with this, so please pray that my thesis defense goes well.

Also pray for those guests that will come over the Christmas Season. Pray we connect with them in a meaningful way and the truth of God’s saving grace is felt.

Thank you, thank you for your prayers.

Last Sunday (11.6.11) was an amazing Sunday at The Bridge Community. We had multiple families out sick (including my family, and Blake, our Worship leader), and other key volunteers were out on vacation. I was a bit worried how things were going to work out, but little by little things came together. Gianni led worship (did fantastic), and we had 2 2nd time, and 2 1st time visiting families. The church felt full despite missing so many families (we had between 80 and 90 people)! The Word of God was studied, and the Gospel was preached, something Centerville has not had since it was founded in 1848! There was a very positive and exciting energy in the lobby after church. All in all, it was an encouraging day!

Please pray for several visitors who come from an LDS background, who are not comfortable in chruch, but are looking for something. Pray that they come to the Lord here, and find the Joy that comes from Him.

Pray also for our neighborhood outreach on the 12th. Pray that as we invite our community, we get a positive response.

Pray also for our volunteers; that they stay encouraged, and see the fruit of thier labors.

Thank you for you prayers and support!

July is here! That means it is VBS time for our church (July 11-15th). We have 19 kids signed up right now (the majority of those are 3 year olds, I don’t know what happened 3 years ago, but the birth rate must have been unusually large). We were hoping to have at least 20, so I think we will make that goal, and we think we can handle up to 60, so lets pray the Lord would bring some new kids into the picture. Lets pray for our Colorado team that is coming to help lead the program. Pray that they have safe travels to and from their home, and that the Lord sustains their energy during the trip. Pray also for our team here, as we assemble it. Pray that we get one more volunteer for our drama team, and that I get my class at Eagle Gate covered for Monday so I can be involved the whole work. Finally, lets pray that the Lord would work in the hearts of the young ones during that week, and that much spiritual fruit would result from these efforts.

We also are doing a 4 week mini-series on Hard Teachings of Jesus, and we sent out a small mailer, pray that new people would decide to join us for Sunday Services.

Carrie and I are thankful for a restful time we had at a marriage retreat last weekend. It was great (we recommend every couple go to the “Weekend to Remember”). We thank the Lord for that refreshing time after a crazy last few months. We launched April third, and had an awesome Easter with over 120 people in attendance to worship the Lord and celebrate what He has done to transform lives as we baptized 5.

A few months ago I had business cards printed that just said, “Just a little reminder, God’s love is Free,” with our church info on the back. We gave some of those cards to our launch team, and one couple gave one to one of the Costco free sample workers. That worker and her husband actually came to church, praise God! last week they confided with the couple who invited them that they have also had the LDS missionaries coming over to their home teaching them, and that they were being “pressured” by family and the missionaries into LDS baptism. They are afraid how their family will handle it if they tell them they are coming our church, but the husband does not buy the LDS “stuff.” Please pray for this family.

Also, two Sunday’s ago another individual indicated on the contact card they wanted more information about how to become a Christian. We have reached out several ways to this individual, please pray that they would continue to move toward receiving Christ.

Thank you for your prayers!

I hope your easter was as amazing as it was at The Bridge Community. We were blessed this last week to have several people from Fresno come help us gear up for an awesome Easter. We saw a Bridge Community record 123 people come to church, we baptized 5 individuals, and had several new contacts request info about our church. We have had new-comers each week since launch, and are running low on new-comer gift bags (how great is that). Please pray that we grow in our capacity to welcome visitors, and move them toward takeing an active role in the church.

One quick story (there are too many of these stories to tell really), one day Stephen and Taylor (from Fresno), were walking with me to hand out flyers promoting our Easter service. We were tired after walking numerous streets during that day, and were on our way home, but made the decision to hang promo flyers on the doors on our walk home. On our way we passed a home with a man outside working on his yard, and we struck up a conversation, and invited him to join us for church on Easter. To our amazement he came, and just loved the service. I saw him moved to tears during worship, and he tracked me down after the service and said “he’d be getting baptized soon,” and that he wanted to pray. He hadn’t prayed in about 10 years. He said he was was not sure what to expect, and had his wife wait 20 min in the parking lot after dropping him off in case he got board, but he could not stop talking about how amazing the service was, and that he will be back. He thinks his wife might even come (and she is against religion for the most part). Anyway, I am not much of a writer, and there are so many other cool details to this story, and so many other amazing ways the Lord has used us here already, I cant do God justice for what He has done in and through us. Please Pray the Lord continues to move, to grow our group, and make His name great here in Davis County Utah.

Well, we made it to launch, Yay! It was quite the morning: it snowed, our projector cable broke and we almost could not use the projector, and Blake’s guitar stopped working during worship. Strange, but you know what, God is way bigger than those things and we had a great morning. Worship was fantastic, the cable got fixed, and over 100 people made it out to our service.

Now lets pray that the follow up is a success. Our team has already started the that process, lets pray that we make meaningful connections, and that our first time visitors feel as welcomed and loved as they should.

Praise God, we have zoning approval for the theater. The Planning commission and City council have both approved the change which will allow religious services in the theater. Now the theater will have to get approval on a conditional use permit for the facility that includes religious worship as a conditional use. That amendment has been filed, and will be voted on on March 23rd at 7pm. Pray for that!!

The City has been very helpful in this process, but please continue to pray that this gets resolved as we plan, as our newspaper print adds will have to be filed before the date move is completely secure.

Pray for our Sunday Morning Service this week. We will be in the Theater, holding our first Sunday morning church service on the 20th (this Sunday), and we officially open our doors on April 3rd. Pray, Pray, Pray!!

Here is a time line we need to pray through:

March 9th (today)- Centerville Planning commission will consider a zoning code ammendment to add church use as a conditional use in a public facility zone.

March 15th- Assuming the Planning commission will recommend the change, the City council will vote to approve the commission’s recommendation.

March 20th- Our first Sunday in the arts facility. Because the process will not be complete (See March 23rd below), we will not yet have a lease signed, but the city is willing to allow us to use the facility while the amendment is being considered.

March 23rd- Assuming the City Council voted to approve the zoning change, the Arts Center would then need to file an amendment with the Planning Commission to add church use to their conditional use permit. If this is approved on the 23rd, we can sign the lease and be all set.

The City has been helpful in navigating this process (as unexpected as it was/is). Lets pray that each step of the way goes through with no hitches, and that Jesus is glorified in all this.
